Bio

Nichole Lorenz, Licensed Master Clinical Social Worker (LMSW) and Healing Touch (HT) Practitioner Level 1, is a Holistic Emotional Wellness Consultant with a clinical practice in downtown Ann Arbor, MI.  She also belongs to the Nature Learning Community, a community she actively supports due to a belief in the deep healing capacity of nature connection, or "Rx Outside". Using both energetic and psychotherapeutic techniques to support her clients, she is poised to support her mission:  to partner with clients to examine their relationships with themselves and with others in order to support them in realizing the balance and vibrant health that they desire.

Nichole has been on a growth and development path since 2002 and most recently it has brought her to a place where she is passionately driven to support others on their journeys of authentic self connection and connection with others.  Over the past 16 years, Nichole has walked a steady path toward health and wellness that involved letting go of relationships with food, substances, and connections with others that no longer served her, connecting her with several holistic practitioners in the community, introducing her to Ayurveda and its principles around simple balanced eating, nudging her to adopt physical practices to support health, exposing her to Nonviolent Communication (NVC) / Compassionate Communication to support emotional awareness and connection with self and others, and also calling her to learn and practice Heart Based Meditation to support connection with self.

Nichole has served individuals, families, and groups in various settings over the last 15 years: in schools, in mental health clinics, in substance abuse clinics, in the community, and in homes.  Nichole has worked with clients from diverse backgrounds in regards to socioeconomic status, race and ethnicity, sexual orientation, and gender identity and expression. Nichole has significant experience working with people who want to make changes related to challenges around feelings of depression and anxiety, stress-related concerns, relationship concerns, adjustment challenges, grief and loss, and sexual, gender, and other identity-related concerns.  She also has extensive experience with parenting support and guidance.

Nichole resides in Ann Arbor and takes great pleasure in serving the low-income / homeless community by fundraising and gathering donations each fall.  Nichole finds great healing and rejuvenation by spending time with her 2 children, an 11-year-old son and a 9-year-old daughter, her dog, and her strong female friends who have gifted her with immeasurable support and guidance over the years.

Therapeutic Influences

As a Holistic Emotional Wellness Consultant Nichole is passionate about facilitating balance for individuals.  We know that every living thing strives to achieve balance - or homeostasis - in every given moment. Nichole believes in partnering with individuals to examine their relationships with themselves and with others in order to support them in realizing the balance and stability that they desire.  Only when we are at homeostasis - or true balance - can we thrive and optimize our potential.

Nichole adheres to the principles of holistic and integrative health care when partnering with individuals - focusing not only on a person's mental health / emotional status but also on his/her/their relationship with body and physical health, food / nutrition, work / profession, spirituality, finances, home environment, and connection with family, friends, and intimate partners.   Further, Nichole draws upon the knowledge base and principles of Nonviolent Communication (NVC) / Compassionate Communication in order to support individuals in living a life of compassion, collaboration, courage, and authenticity. NVC, also referred to as the “language of the heart”, is a power-sharing model rather than a power-over model. Therefore, Nichole works to develop relationships with clients that are based on partnership, equality, and mutuality in order to cultivate the client’s inner knowing and guidance around his/her/their best interests.  Nichole can facilitate energetic healing through the evidence-based practice of Healing Touch. Finally, Nichole also draws upon the work of Motivational Interviewing and Internal Family Systems (IFS) in her work with clients.
